my Story
Hello! I’m Caron and I am the founder and creative Director of Marmalade Interiors
My story looks a little different and I think that’s exactly what makes Marmalade what it is.
My career started in financial services but swiftly changed to a desire to follow a path into travel. I lived abroad for seven years working across the Canaries and Spain, managing teams and making sure every detail of people’s experiences was exactly right. Once back in the UK I returned to my Financial Services career and spent a total of 12 years helping customers understand investments, savings and budgets.
The arrival of twins in 2011, followed shortly after by a relocation to Geneva for two years, created a career crossroads and fuelled a long held dream to follow a more creative path.
Juggling motherhood whilst completing studies with KLC School of Design in London and UAL Chelsea College of Arts was very challenging to say the least but perseverance wins and after gaining experience with other interior design studios, Marmalade Interiors was born!
Since founding Marmalade 8 years ago, we are proud to have lead and collaborated on many projects for residential homes around the UK for new and returning clients.
What i bring
My unconventional background compliments my industry professional qualifications & creative skills, to give a fully rounded service to our clients…
My financial services background means we value and understand the significant investment you are committing to your home or business and we help you optimise the benefits of that investment financially and emotionally
Being a professional working parent I understand the time pressures and overwhelm that often accompany a refurb or home renovation. We help alleviate that by following a defined process, bringing clarity to your vision and enabling you to move forward with confidence.
Living across Europe and beyond taught me that the most enduring spaces - the ones you never tire of - are almost always rooted in the natural world. Light. Texture. Calm. The feeling of a space that breathes.
Real-world understanding of family life & the work-life blend, ensures valuable insights into what actually makes a space work for you
That’s what I bring to every project. Not just a beautiful room - but a space that genuinely improves your daily life.
my design philosophy
Having been a horse rider since the age of 12, I have always enjoyed spending as much time as possible outdoors. I believe that our connection with nature is at the heart of our wellbeing and this philosophy is at the core of Marmalade
We believe interiors should nurture, uplift and sustain. By bringing the outside in - through natural materials, considered daylighting, layered planting and calm, tactile palettes - we create timeless, joyful spaces that aim to reduce stress, improve air quality and foster a deeper sense of peace.
As a mother, I'm deeply committed to designing spaces that won't harm the planet my children will inherit. Whenever possible we source from sustainable suppliers, choose pieces built to last and always consider the environmental impact of every recommendation - choosing to respect the planet as well as the people who inhabit our designs.
We bring a sensitivity to how natural elements enhance mood and behaviour, and we aim to enable connection through design - helping people flourish at home and at work while leaving a gentler footprint on the world.
And outside the studio…
You’ll likely find me on horseback or walking the dog! Usually outside somewhere - always gathering more design inspiration from Mother Natures infinite colour palette.
As a mother I understand what family life actually looks like - the beautiful chaos of it, the need for spaces that are both stunning and genuinely liveable. This informs everything I do.
If you’re reading this because you’re ready to finally do something about your home - I’d love to hear about it.
